Real estate emerged as the fastest-growing services sub-sector in June 2026, expanding 24.7 per cent year-on-year, according to the latest Index of Services Production (ISP) data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI).The sector recorded the highest growth among the 19 sub-sectors tracked by the index, followed by retail trade at 18 per cent, wholesale trade at 15.1 per cent, administrative and support services at 14.4 per cent, and IT and computer-related services at 13.5 per cent.Eight of the 19 sub-sectors recorded double-digit growth in June compared with the same month last year, while 18 registered positive growth, indicating broad-based expansion across the services sector.The ISP, released with 2024-25 as its base year, tracks output across 19 services sub-sectors.The strong performance in services comes alongside broader economic expansion. India’s real GDP grew 7.8 per cent year-on-year in the April-June quarter of FY27, exceeding the Reserve Bank of India’s earlier estimate of 7 per cent.Real GDP was estimated at Rs 81.36 lakh crore in Q1 FY27, compared with Rs 75.46 lakh crore in the same quarter a year earlier. Nominal GDP stood at Rs 88.27 lakh crore, up 10.3 per cent from Rs 80 lakh crore in Q1 FY26.The RBI has projected India’s full-year GDP growth for FY27 at 6.7 per cent, up from its earlier forecast of 6.6 per cent.MoSPI is scheduled to release the next set of quarterly GDP estimates, covering July-September, on November 30.
