Maharashtra teacher recruitment 2026: The selection list for the teacher recruitment process conducted through the Pavitra portal has been released in Maharashtra. The process covers teaching posts in local self-government bodies, government agencies and private educational institutions across the state. Education Commissioner Sachindra Pratap Singh announced the development at a press conference in Pune.As per advertisements issued by school managements, recommendations are being made against a total of 30,209 posts. Candidates had registered their preferences for available posts. The selection list for posts not requiring interviews was published at 7 pm on Thursday, while a parallel reservation conversion round will be conducted for remaining vacancies.Selection list released for available postsA total of 19,754 posts were available for selection without interviews through the Pavitra portal. These included posts in local bodies, municipalities and municipal councils, the Tribal Development Department, government Vidyaniketans and private aided schools.The recruitment was conducted on the basis of scores obtained in the Teacher Aptitude and Intelligence Test (TAIT) 2025. Vacancies remaining under reserved categoriesSeveral posts remain vacant because eligible candidates were not available during the parallel reservation conversion round. The vacancies include 2,760 posts in the Ex-Servicemen category and 1,760 posts in the Part-Time category.A further 802 posts in the Scheduled Tribe category and 1,408 Scheduled Tribe posts in the PESA sector remain vacant. The School Education Department has stated that these positions will be taken up in the next conversion round.Conversion round to fill remaining postsThe School Education Department will conduct a conversion round, also described as a parallel reservation conversion round, for the remaining vacant posts. The exercise will enable recommendations against vacancies for which eligible candidates were not available under the relevant reserved categories.The teacher recruitment process is being implemented through the Pavitra portal based on the vacancies advertised by school managements. Candidates who registered their priorities are included in the selection process according to the applicable recruitment criteria and examination performance.The latest selection list therefore marks the next stage of the recruitment process, while candidates awaiting recommendations for remaining vacancies will have to wait for the conversion round.
