Legal News Update: Foxconn looks for land parcel, Gujarat on radar
GANDHINAGAR: Taiwan-based Hon Hai Technology Group, better known as Foxconn, the world’s leading electronics contract manufacturer, is scouting for a land parcel of more than 200 acres to set up a technology park and high-end electronics manufacturing facility. Apart from other locations in the country, the company has reportedly expressed interest in a land parcel near Sanand in Ahmedabad district for the project.According to top sources in govt, Foxconn executives have surveyed the plot of land near Sanand and the company will take a call on finalising the location in the coming weeks.“The company intends to set up a mobile phone and other high-end electronics manufacturing plant,” a senior state govt official said, clarifying that Gujarat is not the only state being considered by the company for the new project. Sources said Foxconn is exploring potential locations in other states as well before taking a final call on the investment.“Gujarat govt has offered customised incentives and all possible assistance to facilitate the project. The recently announced industrial policy, which seeks to make the state more investor-friendly, could be supplemented with special incentives for Foxconn,” said a source close to the development.
