KEA opens Karnataka PG Dental admissions 2026: Check eligibility, deadlines, and key rules
The Karnataka Examinations Authority has started the admission process for PG Dental courses for the 2026-27 academic session. Eligible NEET MDS 2026 candidates can register for seats in government and private dental colleges until August 17.

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has opened the online admission process for Post Graduate Dental courses for the 2026-27 academic session. The process covers seats in government dental colleges, government quota seats in private and minority dental colleges, as well as private seats in private dental colleges across Karnataka.According to the latest notification, eligible candidates can register through the official KEA website. The registration window opened on August 14 at 11 AM and will remain available until August 17, 2026, at 11:59 pm. Candidates must complete the fee payment by August 18, 2026, at 6 pm. KEA has also published links related to document verification and the PG MDS admission process.

Registration window is short, candidates have little room for error

The admission schedule leaves candidates with only a few days to complete the application process. Applicants seeking admission to PG Dental courses have been advised to go through the PGNEET-2026 Information Bulletin carefully before filling out the form. The authority has made it clear that candidates must satisfy the prescribed eligibility conditions and follow the required procedure for submission of documents and certificates. Given the tight schedule, applicants should not wait until the final hours to register or pay the application fee.The online application must be completed by August 17, while the fee payment deadline is August 18. Missing either deadline could effectively shut candidates out of the current admission process.

NEET MDS 2026 qualification is mandatory

Admission to the PG Dental courses will be based on eligibility in NEET MDS 2026. Candidates who have secured marks equal to or above the prescribed minimum qualifying score in NEET MDS can apply for the Karnataka admission process. However, qualifying NEET MDS alone does not automatically make a candidate eligible for every category of seat. The rules concerning Karnataka eligibility, reservation and seat categories will determine which candidates can claim particular seats during the admission process.

Non-Karnataka candidates face restrictions on reservation

A key point in the KEA notification concerns candidates who are not residents of Karnataka. Such candidates will not be eligible to claim reservation under Karnataka’s reserved categories.Non-Karnataka candidates can participate only if they have secured the minimum qualifying standard prescribed for the General or Unreserved category. The notification specifies the 50th percentile as the qualifying threshold for the General category. This distinction is important because merely meeting the NEET MDS qualifying requirement does not mean that an applicant from outside Karnataka can claim the state’s SC, ST or OBC reservation benefits.

Karnataka reservation rules apply only to eligible Karnataka candidates

KEA has reiterated that Karnataka’s SC, ST and OBC eligibility conditions apply specifically to candidates who meet the state’s requirements for these categories. There is also a specific documentation requirement for Scheduled Caste candidates. Those seeking seats under the SC category must possess caste certificates carrying the relevant internal reservation classification, such as SCA, SCB or SCC, and must enter the RD number while submitting their application.Failure to produce the required certificate or provide the prescribed details can prevent a candidate from selecting seats reserved for the Scheduled Caste category.

Document verification is the next crucial stage

KEA has also issued a document verification update for PG Dental admissions. Candidates should therefore keep their certificates and supporting documents ready and carefully follow the verification instructions issued by the authority. The verification stage is not a formality. Candidates claiming eligibility or reservation on the basis of particular documents must be able to substantiate those claims when required by KEA.

Candidates should follow the official schedule strictly

For the candidates who are preparing to join PG Dental, it is important that they register for the process and ensure there are no mistakes in their applications. It is important that candidates visit the official Information Bulletin and any other notices that have been released before applying. As of now, KEA’s official website has the PG-Dental 2026 online application link, along with news about document verification and the PG Medical/Dental e-information brochure.August 17, 2026, is the deadline to register for PG-Dental 2026. The last date to pay the application fees is August 18, 2026. As the entire schedule has already begun, it is best if candidates consider these dates to be fixed and not look forward to an extension.
